Honkers Even the Score With The Merchants

The Honkers and the Everett Merchants matched up for a second time this season as the Honkers were able to come away with the 4 – 3 Win.

The Merchants (now 4 – 3 on the season) got on the board early with a run scored in the first inning on an RBI base hit by first baseman Sam Paris. The Honkers (1-1 on the season) answered back with an RBI base knock by Will Minice followed by a Sac Fly by Catcher Michael Stubblefield. The Honkers then added a third run on a sac fly by Will Minice in the bottom of the 3rd. In the top of the 4th inning, an RBI double by Aaron Gates tied the game at 3. Both teams scoreless through the next three innnings, Will Minice came through with a clutch 2-out RBI base knock in the bottom of the 8th to give the Honkers a 4-3 lead proving to be the game winning run and giving Minice 2 hits and 3 RBI on the game.

JD Scholten started the game for the Honkers pitching very well in his first start of the season. Going 6 innings 5 K’s 3 ER and 2 BB.

Other noteable performance: Justin Ansdell pitched 2 innings giving up 0 hits and 0 earned runs, Jake Collier closed the game throwing one inning with 1 K 0 hits and 0 earned runs. Dustin Breshears had 2 hits and 1 run scored
