Honkers defeat Merchants in Ninth

The Northwest Honkers defeated the Everett Merchants Tuesday night at Shorecrest High School 4-3. Honkers JD Scholten pitched a complete game for the win striking out eight. Honkers short stop Brandon Dormaier and second baseman Kyle Mall each had a double in the game.
The Honkers were down 2-0 going into the fourth when Honker catcher Casey Fithian singled over the first baseman’s head to drive in the first run for the Honkers. Honkers then took the lead 3-2 in the fifth when Dormaier drove in the go ahead run with a double to left center. The Merchants answered back in the sixth tying the score 3-3 into the bottom of the ninth when the Honkers loaded the bases with a hit from right fielder Chris Bradshaw, center fielder Max Brown reached base on an error and Mall singling to right field. Honker third baseman Jake Hines then took a pitch to the elbow to walk in the winning run.
Honkers face off against the North Sound Emeralds on Friday, June 21st at Edmonds Community College at 7PM.
