Honkers defeat Studs 11-5

The Northwest Honkers defeated the Seattle Studs Monday, July 22 at Art Wright Field in Kent 11-5. Honkers JD Scholten pitched seven innings for the win giving up two earned runs and five total walking none with Shane Dixon pitching the eighth and the ninth for the save giving up no hits, no walks and no runs with two strikeouts.
The Studs went up early on the Honkers leading by three going into the fourth inning when the Honkers rallied back on two outs to score five in the bottom of the fourth. The Honkers put up two more in the sixth going ahead 7-3. The Studs came back within two in the top of the seventh making it 7-5 going in to the eighth. The Honkers then went on another hitting rally scoring four in the bottom of the eighth with an unanswered top of the ninth from the Studs making the final score of the night 11-5.
Honkers catcher Casey Fithian, designated hitter Jeff Freeman and second baseman Jordan Padilla each had a double in the game. Fithian had four RBI’s for the Honkers followed by Padilla, who was 3 for 5, and right fielder Gabe Rochon each with two. First baseman Clayton Truex was 3 for 4 for the Honkers in the game driving in one.
The Honkers are back in action Friday night in game one of the Studs Invitational against the Seattle Studs at the University of Puget Sound at 6:00PM. HONK HONK!!
