Honkers go 2-2 on the weekend

The Northwest Honkers headed up to Kamloops and Kelowna for a double header at each splitting with both teams. On Saturday in Kamloops the Honkers dropped game one 7-2 and won game two 4-3. Honkers Bobby Wassmann pitched four innings giving up only two hits for the loss in game one with Tanner Braun in relief for two innings. Honkers right fielder Andrew Cherin and left fielder Jeff Wyner hit in the two runs for the Honkers. In game two Honkers Jason Salers pitched eight innings, striking out seven, for the win with Wyner closing out the final inning for the Honkers. First baseman Clayton Truex and left fielder Dalton Gervais both had doubles in the game for the Honkers.

In game one at Kelowna the Honkers were shutout dropping the game 2-0. Honkers Chase Kairis pitched 4.2 innings for the loss with Spencer Trautmann and Wyner in for relief. The Honkers bounced back quickly from the shutout to win game two 5-1. Honkers Justin Ansdell pitched five innings for the win with Wyner in for the save in the ninth inning. Center fielder Gervais and third baseman Erik Peterson each had a double in the game. The Honkers were up 3-1 going into the eighth and sealed the deal by scoring one in both the eighth and ninth innings.

The Honkers head to Yakima to play the Yakima Valley Pippens in a three game series Tuesday-Thursday. Game time for each day is 7:00PM. HONK HONK!!
