Fitch signs to Youngstown State University

The Northwest Honkers Josh Fitch has signed to play baseball at Youngstown State University. Fitch played his high school career at Mountlake Terrace High School and moved on to play at Shoreline Community College. At Shoreline Josh hit .291 with eight doubles. For the Honkers Fitch played multiple positions in the infield during the season. He was an effective hitter with runners in scoring position driving in 20 RBI’s this summer.

Youngstown State University is a DI college in Youngstown, Ohio that competes in the Horizon Athletic Conference. In 2014 the Penguins won their first Division I post-season game for the program.

“I am excited and feel very blessed to have the opportunity to attend Youngstown State University and continue my baseball career. Along with pursing my degree and academic goals, I will be able to contribute to a team that won the Horizon League Tournament in 2014 and went to an NCAA regional. Playing Division I baseball has always been an aspiration of mine and I get that opportunity at YSU under Coach Gillispie. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and working towards earning a trip to Omaha next June,” says Josh Fitch on going to YSU.
