Honkers split with the Bears

The Northwest Honkers faced league opponent, Highline Bears, this past Sunday at Steve Cox Memorial dropping game one and taking two to split on the day.

In game one the Honkers pulled ahead in the fifth 3-0 but were unable to hold of a run by the Bears in the bottom of the sixth to tie up the game 3-3 going into the seventh. The Bears were able keep the Honkers from scoring and with the winning run on third the Bears were able to drive it in to take the game 4-3. Honkers Jason Salers went six innings for the loss with Bobby Jackson in relief. Short stop Will Hall went 2-4 with a double and an RBI.

In game two the Honkers battled back from a tough loss to take the game 13-4. The Honkers bats came alive with several Honkers hitting doubles in the game including first baseman Cameron Padron and catcher Shane Stober each with one while designated hitter Andrew Cherin went 2-4 with two doubles for the Honkers. The highlights of the game came from our corner outfielders with Hunter Bingham hitting a three run home run and Jordan Tescher driving in five run including a grand slam.
