Honkers sweep Burnaby

The Northwest Honkers traveled up to Burnaby B.C. to face league opponent the Burnaby Bulldogs in a double header this past weekend. The Honkers took two games from the Bulldogs winning 6-1 and 9-7.
In game one Honkers starting pitcher Dirk Dembroski got the win pitching six inning with Max Dwyer to close in the seventh. Honkers third baseman Danny Torlai went 3-4 in the game with a double and two RBI’s. Designated hitter Martin Lawrence and right fielder Andrew Cherin both added doubles in the win for the Honkers.
In game two the Honkers had Brad Bennett on the mound pitching six innings for the win with Mitch Eatmon for one and Dwyer for two in relief. Torlai had a strong game again for the Honkers going 2-3 with a home run and three RBI’s. Cherin went 2-5 with two doubles, scoring twice. Catcher Jesse Bechtold went 3-4 with two RBI’s and scoring twice.
