Honkers Sweep the Blaze in Home Two Game Series

In game one the Honkers had two five run innings to defeat the Blaze 11-3. The Honkers had 16 hits as a team lead by short stop Ethan Klosterboer who went 3 for 4 in the game. Honkers center fielder Britton Abbott drove in three with a three run home run. Left fielder Andrew Cherin also had a home run in the game for the Honkers. Honkers left handed pitcher Jason Salers pitched six innings for the win striking out seven.

In battle through extra innings the Honkers came back from behind three different times to take the win 13-10 with a walk off three run home run by designated hitter Vince Sablan. The Blaze took an early lead in the top of the first 4-0 until a five run answer in the bottom of the third from the Honkers. The Blaze answered back in the top of the fifth with a five run inning of their own. The Honkers chipped away from behind scoring four in the next three innings to tie it up going into the ninth. The Honkers had the chance to take the win in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded no outs but the Blaze were able to hold them off to force the game into extra innings. Both teams were silenced in the tenth but the Blaze answered quickly with a single run home run in the top of the eleventh. With the tying and scoring run on base the Honkers were able to seal the deal with the three run home run by Sablan to take the win 13-10. Honkers right fielder Andrew Cherin drove in three with a triple. Third baseman Erik Peterson, short stop Ethan Klosterboer and catcher Zach Zurbrugg each had a double for the Honkers in the game. Right handed pitcher Bobby Wassmann got the win for the Honkers.
