Honkers defeat the Pippens in Non-League Matchup

The Northwest Honkers traveled to Yakima, WA to take on the Yakima Valley Pippens of the West Coast League in a non-league match up defeating them 8-3. In a quite game through the first three innings the Honkers bats came alive to drive in five in the top of the fourth. The Pippens quickly answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to keep the game within reach. The Honkers added another run in the sixth and added two more run to push the lead 8-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Pippens threatened in the bottom of the ninth with runners in scoring position but were only able to drive in one to seal the 8-3 win for the Honkers.

The Honkers held the Pippens to only four hits in the match up giving the win to Honkers RHP Tyler Wilson who came in for 1.1 innings after starter Tanner Braun went for four. Honkers bullpen of Spencer Trautmann and Oliver Wange came in with a strong finish giving up no hits with closer Ryan Sheeley coming in for 1.2 for the save giving up no hits.

Honkers short stop Erik Peterson went 2 for 4 in the matchup with a double and two RBI’s. Second baseman Jordan Padilla and center fielder Britten Abbott each drove in two for the Honkers.
