Honkers take two from NWCBL teams

The Northwest Honkers faced two NWCBL teams on Saturday defeating the Eastside Eagles 13-1 and the Rainier Snowcaps 10-2.

In game one against the Eastside Eagles the Honkers scored steadily batting in four in the first five innings until a break out seventh inning driving in six and capping off the game with three in the bottom of the eighth. The Honkers had 13 hits led by Honkers left fielder Sam Chadick who was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. The Honkers held the Eagles to only two hits in the game. Right handed pitcher Brandon Courville pitched five innings giving up no runs and not hits and striking out seven for the win.

In game two against the Rainier Snowcaps the Honkers put runs up early driving in four in the bottom of the first and scored every inning but two in the nine inning game. The Honkers had 14 hits led by catcher Scott Morton who was 4 for 4 with two RBI’s and three doubles. Honkers left handed pitcher Jason Salers pitched five innings for the win with Bobby Wassmann, Tyler Wilson and Ryan Sheeley in relief giving up only two of the eight hits.
