Honkers Drop One in the Ninth

The Northwest Honkers faced the Pilchuck Pioneers this past Saturday at home. After going up 6-0 early in the game, the Pioneers chipped away at the deficit in the fourth, fifth and sixth closing the gap to within three. The Honkers were then unable to hold off the Pioneers in the top of the ninth when they made a four run inning to take the lead with no answer from the Honkers in the bottom of the ninth.

Despite the lose the Honkers offense had a strong game with 14 hits led by first baseman Cameron Padron who was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Honkers center fielder Britten Abbott, second baseman Jordan Padilla and catcher Jesse Bechtold also each had a double for the Honkers. Right fielder Andrew Cherin had a home run in the game.

Honkers Bobby Wassmann went eight innings giving up six hits with Nick Torres in relief for the loss followed by Oliver Wange.
