Honkers Sweep Orioles in Two Game Series

The Northwest Honkers faced league opponent the Trail Orioles Sunday in a double header defeating the Orioles 12-5 and 6-0.

In game one the Honkers had blow out innings scoring five in the second and seven in the fourth. Honkers second baseman Ethan Klosterboer led the scoring run with a three run double followed by a two run double by center fielder Britten Abbott and one run double by Cameron Padron. The Honkers finished their scoring runs with a three run home run by designated hitter Vince Sablan. Honkers left handed pitcher Jason Salers went six innings for the win with Chaz Lopez in relief.

In game one the Orioles held the Honkers offense to just one run through the fifth inning but the Honkers bats came alive driving in five in the bottom of the sixth. Honkers first baseman Padron went 2 for 3 for the Honkers with a double and home run and two RBI’s. Catcher Jose Acosta also went 2 for 3 for the Honkers with a double and two RBI’s. Honkers Brandon Courville threw a complete game giving up only four hits and striking out seven.
