HONKER ZANE GELPHMAN NAMED PACIFIC ASSOCIATION ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Zane Gelphman, Honker third baseman from 2017 played his rookie season of professional baseball this past summer with the Salina Stockade of the Pacific Association. Gelphman hit .267 with 20HRs and was named Rookie of the Year for the Pacific Association. “Playing in the pacific association was a lot of fun”, Gelphman said of his experience, “all I needed was a shot and the pacific association gave me that”. Gelphman finished the season with the San Rafael Pacifics who traded for him while making a push for the playoffs. That move proved to pay steep dividends as Gelphman homered twice during the championship series leading the San Rafael Pacifics to secure a Pacific Association championship. “It was a great step forward in baseball for me and hopefully I’m able to keep taking strides”. Gelphman is no stranger to accolades as he is a 2018 D2 All-American from Oklahoma Baptist where he hit 27HRs in his two years there. “Success was not without a price tag, there were a lot of lonely nights in the gym and hitting by myself off a tee at the cage.” Gelphman reflected on his college career. Now home, he has hit the ground with momentum after the conclusion of his first professional season. He is committed to polish his baseball skills and workout this offseason in pursuit of his next professional contract.
