Coyle pitches Honkers to first W of the season

By Garrett Gagnon,

The Honkers are in the win column following Saturday’s victory over the Highline Bears. With Geese patrolling the skies over Mel Olsen Stadium, University of Sioux Falls right hander Keenahn Coyle toed the rubber and was masterful through six innings for the Honkers. Coyle would throw five shutout innings before giving up his first and only run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Max Winklehake provided two innings of shutdown relief before handing the ball over to Tom Butler for the 9th. The Occidental College righty slammed the door for the Honkers and picked up his first save of the season in the 2-1 Honkers win.

Jesse Bechtold and Jordan Padilla both had 2 for 4 games in a quiet night at the plate for the Honkers. When the pitching staff is on, sometimes 2 runs is all you need!

The Northwest Honkers will be back in action Sunday June 3rd at Fall City Community Park, a home game against the Highline Bears.
