Honkers Outhit Bulldogs, But Beaten 13-2 as Bulldogs attack Early: Connor King Strong Again for Honkers

It was a rough start for starting pitcher Josh Collet, as he couldn’t escape the first inning giving up six runs and only one run before being taken out of the ballgame. It was a weird game for the Honkers, as they were able to take a lead in the top of the first, courtesy of Connor King putting pressure on the Bulldogs and stealing second and scoring on a throwing error. Connor now has seven stolen bases on the year and has continuously been improving on his jumps as the season has progressed.

The command again was not there for Josh in the bottom half of the inning, as he hit a batter in, and walked another one in before a passed ball and another walk and hit by pitch, and the sxi runners had come across in that inning, making it a steep hill for the Honkers to climb. The Honkers were able to get one back in the third, courtesy of a Kendall Yackley single, to once again score Connor King, who has a knack for always seeming to get on base and score runs. Nate Butcher came in to relieve the starter and settled in before giving up a 3-run homer to the #3 hitter, Brett Munro. It was a rough day in all for Honker pitching as all 13 runs that came around to score were earned runs.

The Honkers will look to clean it up and bounce back later in the tournament as they face the Angels and Bulldogs again here in Canada.

Honk! Honk!
