Honkers Outpitched by the Angels, Blaze Hastings Strong in 3-0 Loss

It was another quiet offensive output for the Honkers, as they have yet to get into the double digit hit column north of the border, and were only able to muster up two hits in the loss to the Angels. Surprisingly, it was the eight and nine hitters who were able to have any sort of offensive performance in this one, as catcher Braydon Torres-Moore and left fielder Jaden Yackley was able to also get a knock. These two singles were the only runners put on by starter Shawn Schaefer, who was brilliant in this one, throwing seven shutout innings. Shawn has yet to give up a run on the year, and has been dominant in all of his starts thus far.

On the other side of the ball, the Honkers cleaned it up and played some much better baseball, and got some must needed length from starter Blaze Hastings. He was able to go six strong innings, only giving up two runs two earned runs while scattering six hits and leaving the runners out on base instead of letting them come in to score. Blaze was able to lower his season ERA to 4.40. Relievers Evan Mckay and Warren Utschinski were also both able to throw scoreless innings in relief.

The Honkers will look to get there offense going, as the majority of the lineup wasn’t able to do much the last two games. Look for Peter Dudinakis or Paul Bryniarski, who have been catalysts for the team, to take the offensive lead and carry the team on there back. Lets keep it up and as always HONK HONK!!
