Honkers Drop One Against Black Bears 9-7, Standout Performance from Chaz Lopez

The Honkers were able to put up seven plus runs in there third consecutive game, but it wasn’t enough to beat the high powered offense of the Cowlitz Black Bears. The Honkers put together 10 hits and put together runs early and late behind stellar performances from Jordan Padilla and Logan Coe. Jordan was able to constantly put himself on base the entire game and set himself up to score, as he went 4-5 and scored three of the Honkers seven runs scored. Slugger Logan Coe was able to come up big with clutch hits as well as he went 2-4 and got the scoring started in this one with a two run single in the second inning. Chaz Lopez was the real standout in this game for the Honkers, as he was able to do a little bit of everything, reaching all four plate appearances and going 2-2 with two walks, three RBI’s, and two runs scored. Chaz had a big two run double to tie the game in the seventh inning. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the Honkers to come out on top.

Starter Sean Nussbaum only went four innings and gave up six runs, but only two of them were earned. Then, Austin Pasicka came in for two dominant innings to preserve the lead for the Honkers before they turned it over to head coach Martin Lawrence, who came into pitch, and couldn’t get the job done. He was charged with three earned runs and that was enough for the Black Bears to edge out the Honkers.

The Honkers look to get back to business against the Yakima Valley Pippens tommorow night.
